Normalize injection-pressure quotes by exact injection unit and screw diameter.

A maximum pressure number cannot be compared apart from its machine model, injection-unit and screw/cylinder configuration, pressure definition, force basis, flow, shot volume, simultaneous limits and test method. Keep hydraulic-drive, melt-process and cavity-pressure fields separate throughout the RFQ.

Two quotes are comparable only when their pressure fields refer to the same kind of quantity and each value stays attached to the exact offered injection unit and screw diameter. Put force, flow, shot volume, availability and test basis in the same row; mark an unresolved field as non-comparable.

REJECTED SHORTCUTS

Four shortcuts create a false pressure comparison.

Keep the gap visible and return it to the supplier or responsible process owner. An open field is safer than a precise-looking assumption.

One pressure column for every quote

Reject a comparison that translates hydraulic working pressure, machine injection pressure and cavity pressure into one unlabeled field. Preserve the original term and measurement location.

One ratio for hydraulic-to-melt pressure

Do not apply a universal multiplier. Any relationship depends on the exact drive, geometry, controls, calibration and manufacturer definition, and may not apply to an electric drive.

A best-of-brochure composite

Do not combine the highest pressure, highest flow and largest shot volume when they come from different screw, injection-unit or drive columns. Require one offered configuration row.

A universal recommended pressure

Do not turn a material guide, simulation output or another machine's process into a guaranteed setting. The intended resin, mold, profile, quality result and responsible process review control the project basis.

None proves a NEW ORIENTAL IMM model, value, option, test result or delivered application.

EUROMAP

EUROMAP 1 (1983) — Description of Injection Moulding Machines

Lists screw or piston diameter, maximum injection pressure and calculated injection volume as injection-unit data, while listing hydraulic or pneumatic working pressure separately under the drive.

Boundary: This historical recommendation supplies a field structure, not a universal pressure conversion, current supplier specification or proof that any quoted value follows its definitions.

EUROMAP

EUROMAP 4 (1994) — Determination of the Actual Injection Efficiency

Separates theoretical injection capacity and power from actual injection power and defines a comparison method using an adjustable orifice, pressure sensor, stated screw stroke, HDPE and melt condition.

Boundary: The method does not make untested catalogue maxima equivalent. A supplier must identify whether a value was determined under this method and preserve the exact configuration and conditions.

EUROMAP

EUROMAP 5 (1994) — Manufacturing Report

Requires machine manufacturer, type, EUROMAP size and screw/piston diameter in the manufacturing record and describes filling, holding and back pressure as melt-pressure fields with a stated force/area basis.

Boundary: Those process-report fields are not cavity-pressure measurements and do not authorize a universal conversion or a NEW ORIENTAL IMM value.

ARBURG

ALLROUNDER 370 S — Technical Data

The named OEM table places injection pressure, injection flow and calculated stroke volume under specific injection-unit and screw-diameter columns and warns that some maximum pressure and maximum flow combinations may be mutually exclusive.

Boundary: This is an ARBURG 370 S example only. Its options, values, relationships and test status must not be transferred to NEW ORIENTAL IMM or another model.

FANUC

FANUC ROBOSHOT alpha-SiB Series — Specifications, including S15iB

The official matrix includes the S15iB and presents screw-specific injection fields. It states that maximum injection and pack pressure may vary with installed screw and cylinder specifications and that molding conditions may be restricted by screw diameter.

Boundary: This is a dated FANUC series example only. It does not establish a general rule, a recommended pressure or any NEW ORIENTAL IMM configuration or performance.

KISTLER

Cavity Pressure — Measurement Inside the Injection Mold

Defines cavity pressure as pressure inside the injection mold and describes a pressure profile across injection, compression and holding, measured with sensors integrated into the mold.

Boundary: Sensor type, location and measurement basis remain project-specific. This source does not make cavity pressure equal to a machine maximum or prove a supplied monitoring system.

Injection-pressure quote comparison FAQ

These answers keep injection-unit capability, hydraulic-drive data, process fields and in-cavity evidence in separate records.

01Are injection pressure, hydraulic pressure and cavity pressure the same?

No. They can refer to different locations, hardware and evidence states: an injection-unit field, a hydraulic drive-circuit field and pressure inside the mold cavity. Keep the supplier's original label, definition, location, unit and test or calculation basis.

02Can hydraulic pressure be converted to injection pressure with one ratio?

Not with a universal ratio. A defensible relationship requires the exact machine and injection unit, drive geometry, screw diameter, control and calibration basis, plus a manufacturer-confirmed method. An all-electric injection drive also cannot be forced into the same hydraulic field.

03Why must a pressure quote include screw diameter?

Because screw diameter and the exact screw/cylinder and injection-unit configuration are part of the force, pressure, calculated stroke-volume and flow basis. Named OEM data sheets show those fields in configuration-specific columns; their numbers are not transferable to another machine.

04Can maximum injection pressure and maximum injection flow be compared together?

Only after the supplier confirms they are simultaneously available on the exact offered configuration and states the method and conditions. An official ARBURG data sheet explicitly warns that certain maximum pressure and maximum flow combinations may be mutually exclusive.

05Which pressure belongs in a clamp-force screen?

Use a documented cavity-pressure basis approved for the intended mold and process, not the machine's maximum injection-pressure field. The separate clamp-force guide records projected area, cavity-pressure source, distribution, tool loads and project-specific margin.

06What should a buyer request before accepting a pressure claim?

Request the exact model, injection unit, screw/cylinder code and diameter, original pressure label and location, value status, injection force basis, flow/speed and shot-volume fields, simultaneous-limit statement, source revision, test conditions and project acceptance plan.
